Dunnottar is a Municipality in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The Municipality - often referred to as the 'Village of Dunnottar' - is located on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, just off Highway 9, south of Winnipeg Beach. The Municipality encompasses the towns of Ponemah, Whytewold, and Matlock. These centres grew around Canadian Pacific Railway status. It borders the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, in addition to Lake Winnipeg. It is known for its beaches & many summer residents & visitors. As of the 2001 Canada Census, 487 people were full-time residents of the 'Village'. This is a 24% increase from the 392 permanent residents counted in the 1996 Census. Overall, the trend is towards increasing numbers of permanent residents. There was a 29% increase between 1971 and 1981, 7% between 1981 and 1991, and 59% between 1991 and 2001.
